Our company is located in Seattle, Washington and is specialized in providing technical services and repairs to commercial and government marine propulsion systems; including controllable pitch propellers, bow thrusters, electronic and pneumatic control systems and stern tube sealing systems.
We are looking for a seasoned Field Service Technician: Applicant must have minimum 5 years working knowledge of commercial marine propulsion systems as fore-mentioned above, and the technical skills to match. Applicant must be proficient with the reading and recording of measurements (using dial measuring instruments), and must be able to read and understand mechanical & hydraulic blueprints. Applicant must be skilled with using a computer (Microsoft Word, Excel or equivalent and email) to communicate business matters and job reporting. Must be comfortable working independently on a project with communicating information to proper vessel chains of command, and have the ability to provide direction to shipyard workers. Travel will be required to local area shipyards, as well as some out of state locations. Standard shipyard rigging and safety practice knowledge is required. Some heavy (50 pounds) lifting may be required at times. Applicant must have a valid Washington State driver’s license & passport (or ability to get a passport). Applicant will also have to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) card upon hire.
All applicants considered for interview will be asked to complete a brief skills aptitude test on the following: 1) Reading measurement indicators. 2) Boat knowledge. 3) Reading Schematics (Blue print drawings). 4) How you read and convey information (communication skills).
