Q. How much does it cost?
A. Always a popular question. Currently, during the introductory period while we are getting the word out, it doesn't cost anything to view resumes or post jobs. It's Free! There is a cost to maintaining and updated a website and at some point we will have to introduce a fee structure. Rest assured, the fees are expected to be 75% less than the traditional places and you will have a captive audience of only marine industry people looking at your job posting. You will receive a far superior return on your investment.
Q. Why not post on the free job boards?
A. If you have looked at the free boards you will see that you get what you pay for. There are very few jobs listed, fewer resumes, and most are months old. The boards are not promoted or advertised since they have no revenue to do so and therefore have few visitors. You are looking to select from a large group of candidates and getting everyone together here in one place is the best way to find your ideal hire.
Q. I have a marine website and a job board that doesn't get used. Can I link into yours?
A. Of course, that would benefit your site and generate traffic to both your location and ours. We can link back to your main site as well.
Q. Why not use Monster or Careerbuilder?
A. You can, you probable are, and paying dearly for it. $419 to post a job for one month? Outrageous! And who is viewing your job opening? Hundreds of thousands of job seekers that have no marine experience and the experienced marine people that you want to interview are searching for your posting amongst hundreds of thousands like a needle in a haystack. Can it be found? Look where the right people are listed.
Q. I use the newspaper, what's wrong with that?
A. Nothing except it costs a LOT of money and only has local exposure. What if your ideal candidate lives in the area of the next newspaper over? Do you advertise twice? At what cost? When I checked, a South Florida paper charges $1200 for a 7 day job posting. You get a little bitty square of text on recycled paper easily lost amongst the "Earn $9,000 a month working at home part-time" posts. What if your ideal candidate wants to move to your area? They will never know about the position unless you advertise globally.
Q. How will people find out about the site?
A. There are lots of ways we are marketing. Direct faxes and emails to marine related companies, press releases, emails to staffing agencies, marine forums, print ads in magazines and trade publications, link exchanges, and most importantly word of mouth from those that believe it's time to get together as one and gather all our job posts and job seekers together and get some positions filled.
Q. How can I help find the right people for my job posting?
A. Every marine company and staffing agency has a file of resumes and applications from job seekers that do not fit their current needs. If every HR department took a few minutes to email or call those people in the file and tell them about this site we would overnight have lots and lots of candidates many of which could be the ideal candidate for you. Please take a few minutes and contact these people looking for work and have them post their resumes. A good deed repays you many times over.
Q. How can I help make this work?
A. Tell someone about it, find the resume file and help those people by telling them, post a blurb about it in a boating forum, link from your site to ours and we will do the same, post a banner on your site, post your jobs even though there are only a few job seekers right now. It all starts with one, then two, then more and more. A few minutes of your time can help someone find a job.
Q. I need changes to the site, can you do that?
A. The job posting program we have is generic "out of the can" software. Our plan is to have custom software built specifically around the needs of the marine industry employers and job seekers. Your feedback is essential to that. Please go to the contact page and drop an email with your suggestions.
Q. A job type is missing, what do I do?
A. We have some flexibility in making adjustments to the site, tell us what you are looking and we will try our best. The new software is planned to be able to give you an enormous amount of flexibility and customization.
